If you have been to see The Folly Mixtures Perform this year, you may have noticed a few new gorgeous faces in the troupe. Did you know there are now actually 14 fabulous Folly Mixtures?! With lots of requests for shows, we have searched high and low to expand our Burlesque family and found performers with talent, personality and individuality. We thought it would be nice for you to get to know them all a bit more, so meet our fire eating Folly….Penny Valent!

How would you describe your performance style on stage?

Weeeee this costume is so sparkly-yay synchronised dancing!-OMG LOOK A DOG

What is your favourite Folly act to perform and why?

Diner - It's super cute, the choreography is fun, and I can pretend that I'm a gum chewing teenage waitress from 
the 50's. 

How did you first get into Burlesque and what do you love about it? 

I've loved the idea of burlesque since the revival came back big style years back and I've dipped in and out 
through working as a dancer. What I really love about burlesque and cabaret is how unique it is - 
you can be whoever or whatever you want to be, and that's okay. Plus the sparkly costumes are fun. 

What is the most glamorous part of being a Burlesque artiste and what is the least?

The most glamorous is the glitter, it's amazing on stage.

The least glamorous is... the glitter, that stuff gets everywhere. And I mean EVERYWHERE.

Now you are part of a Burlesque bag of pick n mix, which sweet are you most like and why?

Definitely popping candy. I'm fun but unpredictable!

Tell us a fun fact about you that a Folly fan wouldn't know….

I'm left handed and can write completely backwards…

Meet The Folly Mixtures….Lolo Pop!

If you have been to see The Folly Mixtures Perform this year, you may have noticed a few new gorgeous faces in the troupe. Did you know there are now actually 14 fabulous Folly Mixtures?! With lots of requests for shows, we have searched high and low to expand our Burlesque family and found performers with talent, personality and individuality. We thought it would be nice for you to get to know them all a bit more, this cutie will perform her brand new solo act for the first time on Friday night….meet Lolo Pop!

How would you describe your performance style on stage?

Like a box of Chocolates.. 

What is your favourite Folly act to perform and why?

This one is hard!! Ohh ok my favourite Folly Act to perform is Hula?! The second Hula music comes on it makes me smile...

How did you first get into Burlesque and what do you love about it?

I first got into Burlesque when I auditioned for The Folly Mixture's, i love the freedom, the fun and silliness of being a Folly!

What is the most glamorous part of being a Burlesque artiste and what is the least?

The costumes, the diamonds and glitter! Least glamorous? Have you ever stuck double sided sticky tape to your body? And ripped it off 4 times in a night?.. Ouch.

Now you are part of a Burlesque bag of pick n mix, which sweet are you most like and why?

Lolo Pop has to be a Lollipop! Because im sweet and sugary and... you want to lick me? Haha

I was named after Superman's girlfriend Lois Lane!

Meet The Folly Mixtures….Storm Hooper!

We thought it would be nice for you to get to know them all a bit more, meet our circus star….Storm Hooper!

How would you describe your performance style on stage?

I've always wanted to be a rockstar.. So maybe the rock diva of the folly mixtures? 

What is your favourite Folly act to perform and why?

That's such a hard question!! Gold.. No, hula.. Ah.. Gatsby.. They all so different so epically depends on my mood and the gig.. Hula on a tropical beach is a dream right?!

How did you first get into Burlesque and what do you love about it?

I first got into burlesque through House of Burlesque. Love it so much that I became a folly, and have certainly not looked back!

What is the most glamorous part of being a Burlesque artiste and what is the least?

Some of the locations we go! Been incredibly lucky over the years!! The least? Hmm.. The flights, the minibus', the vans, the onesies.. Though I personally think we look adorable! 

Now you are part of a Burlesque bag of pick n mix, which sweet are you most like and why?

Black liquorice, an acquired taste but a damn tasty one!

I'm like a reverse superhero.. Lifeguard by day.. Performer by night..

Meet The Folly Mixtures….Sally Oh Spitfire!

If you have been to see The Folly Mixtures Perform this year, you may have noticed a few new gorgeous faces in the troupe. Did you know there are now actually 14 fabulous Folly Mixtures?! With lots of requests for shows, we have searched high and low to expand our Burlesque family and found performers with talent, personality and individuality. We thought it would be nice for you to get to know them all a bit more, next in line is our beautiful English Rose….Sally Oh Spitfire!

How would you describe your performance style on stage?

Cheeky, Charming and Classic.

What is your favourite Folly act to perform and why?

Goddess! The song is all about Venus the Goddess of love, beauty, sex, fertility, prosperity and desire… What’s not to love?!

How did you first get into Burlesque and what do you love about it?

As a recent Musical Theatre graduate I refused to work in a part time job that I hadn’t trained for. Burlesque seemed like an amazing new skill to add to my bow and I love how liberating it is! 

What is the most glamorous part of being a Burlesque artiste and what is the least?

The most glamorous part is the overall look and feel, the costumes, glitter, hair, make-up and being surrounded by beautiful women! 

The least I’m afraid to say is sitting backstage with your legs wide open trying desperately not to get rhinestone imprints near your crotch before you go on…(Too much?)

Now you are part of a Burlesque bag of pick n mix, which sweet are you most like and why?

Strawberry liquorice … because red is my favourite colour, strawberries are the classic British pud with a little indulgent cream and the whip… well…

Other than a Burlesque artiste I work as a Musical Theatre performer and a life model!

Meet The Follys…..Lola La Pearl!

We thought it would be nice for you to get to know them all a bit more, so we kick off with the blonde bombshell…..Lola La Pearl!

How would you describe your performance style onstage?

''Unsupervised child at a Birthday party!''

What is your favourite Folly act to perform and why?

Diner, especially when I perform it with Riri - mostly because of the silliness! Also, the costume is super cute!

How did you first get into Burlesque, and what do you love about it?

I got into Burlesque when I started with The Folly Mixtures, before that I trained as a dancer. I realised I was into Burlesque on a dancing job in China, when all I wanted to do was take my clothes off and be ridiculous!

What is the most glamorous part of being a Burlesque artiste and what is the least?

The most glamorous is the costumes, the least is what we have to do to stay in them!

Now you are part of a Burlesque bag of pick'n'mix, which sweet are you most like and why?

A sour cherry - because I look sweet and innocent but am also a stripper!

I am a crazy bunny lady. I treat by bunny, 'Little Bunny Foofoo', like he's my child.

Folly Adventures!

2015 has been fabulous so far! You may have noticed some new faces in our Folly family at recent shows - we now have 15 gorgeous girls performing for us, who are all adding extra sparkle to The Folly Mixtures! You'll get to know them better in future blogs, so keep an eye out!

Last month we were lucky enough to travel with work (if you can call it that!). We were so excited to be invited to perform at The Munich Burlesque Festival on their 'Ensemble Night'. The audience were incredible and we hope to be back sometime in the future for another show.

We also packed our thermal tassels for our second trip to European Gay Ski Week. This was our second year taking a full Folly Mixtures Revue show to the mountains, this time on the lovely resort of Avoriaz. We had a great show, danced our socks off at Apres Ski and took to the slopes….on sledges! We've made some fantastic friends and loved every minute - bring on next year!

We have also been lucky enough to take 'The Folly Mixtures Revue' to The Hippodrome casino in London. We love this venue and brought the biggest Folly show to date - opening with seven bunny girls! We will be announcing more dates soon, so watch this space!

If you are London based, you can catch us at Cafe De Paris on a Saturday night, in 'Showtime Cabaret' and at Privee in Knightsbridge every weekend. Check our website to see if the 'Evening of Burlesque' tour bus is taking us to a theatre in your home town this year!

HIGHLIGHTS OF 2014

The Folly Mixtures had a great 2014 travelling across the UK and many parts of the world. We're very thankful for every every show we do, for every opportunity we receive, and for every new friend we make. With that in mind, we'd like to share our highlights of last year, news that shocked the Cabaret world and finally look forward to the new year ahead!

There was terrible news surrounding London's Cabaret scene - the closing of our beloved Madame Jojo's where we spent four very happy years performing "The Folly Mixtures Revue" resident show:

Now for exciting things to come in 2015! 

***We have a new residency at Privee Knightsbridge***

***We are excited and proud to announce we will be performing at Munich Burlesque Festival in March***

***We also have not one but TWO fabulous new acts going into "showtime Cabaret" at Cafe de Paris starting on Saturday 10th January***

If that's not a great start to the year we don't know what is! Watch this space for further news and updates on all things Folly related!
